We invite you to join us on our unique
food and wine explorations of Italy.
Each year we accompany small groups of like-minded travelers
to unearth the wonders of a country steeped in history,
culture, art and architecture
and possessed of a rich culinary heritage.
Though Italy is united by a national identity and language,
it is also a tapestry of regions, provinces, towns and
villages, each with its own dialect, history and cultural
experience. We at the Umbrian Table celebrate this diversity,
and seek out locations, artisans and products which help give
each place we visit its particular
character.
As our name implies, we specialize in travel to Umbria,
the green heart of Italy. It is a region of imposing mountains,
verdant valleys and fertile plains.
Umbria produces fine wines,
world famous truffles, exceptional prosciutto, salami, pecorino
cheese, and some of the best olive oil in the world. When in Umbria,
we reside at the 14th century historic residence, Palazzo Dragoni,
in the center of the wonderfully preserved hill town of Spoleto.
From there
we travel to Assisi, Perugia, Montefalco and other enchanting towns, villages
and historical locations exploring food, wine, art and architecture as we go.
Umbria remains, for the most part, unspoiled by mass tourism. As a result we
are able to become acquainted with the people and places we visit in an
intimate way, and to experience things the more casual visitor might miss.
Our tour partner and guide in Italy is Richard San Marzano. He is
charming, bilingual and very well informed about the many aspects of
Italian life. Our clients always find him to be an exceptional travel
companion.
Available space on all of our excursions is limited. We urge you
to contact us soon for more information, and to reserve your place
on these unique journeys. We are also able to arrange for customized
programs. Contact us with group size and special interests.
Sincerely,
Michael and Karin Rostance
